I am in Scotland this week for work and my rental was not quite what I anticipated.
Stock picture as the sun rises/sets while I’m working, but it looks exactly like this.
I have to admit that I don’t hate the beast, aka Ford Galaxy . It is far larger than I need, but it cruises nicely and is comfortable. The visibility is great with a nearly 50/50 sheet metal to window ratio. Seems like a fantastic option to transport 7 people as long as you do not need any cargo space behind the third row.
I also discovered you can manually raise and lower the headlight level last night with a second knob within the headlight knob that pops out when pressed. Never seen this before and not sure what it’s purpose is, but it was cool nonetheless.

Is it a turbo diesel with a manual?

It does not have the manual unfortunately but is the 150ps turbo diesel.

That headlight level switch is common on european cars, basically when you are towing something heavy the back of the car squats so you can lower the headlights to avoid blinding other people.

It’s to level the lights so you don’t dazzle oncoming cars when there is load in the back.

Adjustable headlights - either self levelling or manual - have been a requirement for years.

Interesting. I’ve seen and used auto ones before but the manual leveling was new to me.

IIRC they have to be automatic if they’re HID or LED; manual is ok for halogens.

Nothing let’s you find the true capabilities of a car like roads like they have there. Or Italy, where grandma will pass you doing twice your speed in an underpowered antique.

This thing handles shockingly well. Much better than it has any right to given its size.

Hasn’t it been mandatory for ages?

In Europe yes, the rest of the world not and in US-spec cars I think they even remove them for some reason.
